Welcome to our evangelical outreach called the eagle’s hunt for Christ, we are to have a quick look at how important evangelism should be. Many Christians are confused about who should go for evangelism, some said it’s the work of an evangelist alone, or a duty of workers in the Church. But looking at the scriptural context from the Lords points of view, we assume that every Christians are called to be a disciple.
A disciple simple means an imitator or follower of Jesus Christ. His commandment was to make man kind of every nation his followers, in the other words every Christian is a missionary, so you are involve, no one is exempted. Now let's look at few scriptures that are been provided for references about important of evangelism, find out yourself who should go for evangelism, I believe the Holy Spirit will lead you to the truth.
The Important of Evangelism
Matthew 28:19 "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Evangelism is a commandment; Jesus said if you love me keep my commandment". Acts 1:8 "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Those who receive power is bound to evangelise, this is what the Holy Ghost will do in their life given them power for outreach".
Mark 16:15 "He said to them, Go into the entire world and preach the good news to all creation. The expectation of the Lord was that every nation will hear the word of the Lord. If we do not go, how can they hear"?
John 15:27 "And you also must testify, for you have been with me from the beginning. Jesus said you must testify, because you have known him, so if don’t testify that means you have not known him, we are still in darkness".
Acts 4:33; "With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and much grace was upon them all. Without testimony of Jesus, God’s grace will be limited for us to run the race to the very end".
Acts 8:5; "Philip went down to a city in Samaria and proclaimed the Christ there. Every disciple of Jesus must be committed and ready to do the work of evangelist, every Christian is a missionary. The expectation our Lord was that men should be his disciple whether small or great".
Matthew 24:14 "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. Jesus said we must carry this gospel as a witness against the world in the day of judgement".
Mark 13:10 "And the gospel must first be preached to all nations. Jesus use must, which means a command, whether the Christian Brother or sister like it or not, if you love your master you must keep his word or you face the consequences".
Matthew 10:33 "But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven. This is a plain statement from the Lord, that if we deny before the public, him as our advocate, will not defend us in the presence of his father in the last day".
Mark 8:38 If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his Father's glory with the holy angels. If we are ashamed of evangelising or ashamed declaring his word, we are in a very big trouble in the day of judgement. Some people said God understands, he cannot punish those he loved, this word is from the master himself.
Luke 12:9 "But he who disowns me before men will be disowned before the angels of God. Jesus the master, repeatedly saying the same word that proves how serious he was".
Luke 9:26 "If anyone is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels. If any man, means every individual, Christian Boy or Girl, Christian man or woman, pastors or Apostles, Bishops or Evangelist. Evangelism is not particularly for sating individual".
2 Timothy 1:8 "So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord, or ashamed of me his prisoner. But join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God, Paul the Apostle encourage Timothy to testify of the Lord even to testify the power of God in Pauls life".
Isaiah 58:1 "Shout it aloud, do not hold back. Raise your voice like a trumpet. Declare to my people their rebellion and to the house of Jacob their sins. Christians are not called to be silent but to make a shout to the world and tell them the consequences of their sins".
Isaiah 62:6 "I have posted watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; they will never be silent day or night. You, who call on the LORD, give yourselves no rest. Here the Lord said every Christian that call on the name of the Lord, don’t keep quiet, don’t give yourself rest let the world know that you are a child of God".
Ezekiel 3:17 "Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me".
Ezekiel 3:18 When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
Ezekiel 3:19 "Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul".
Ezekiel 3:20 "Again, When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand".
Ezekiel 3:21 "Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous man, that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also thou hast delivered thy soul".
There are thousands of scriptural verses of important of evangelism, before we became a born again Christian, if those who first heard this gospel message were silent, we wouldn’t have been saved today. A Christian who keeps away from evangelism is a selfish Christian, for those who are circling around the Church without sharing their faith with others are making a great mistake. So many people gave their life for the sake of the gospel, and we read their account today as a story, they are not stories, they are facts and must be respected.
Our Lord Jesus himself was an example number one of those who brought this gospel to save life, so we have no excuse. The Apostles are been killed and crucified one by one on the cross, before the gospel could reach us. In Ezekiel 3:17-19, God declared that every Christians are watchman over those who have not known Him, we must warn them of consequences of sin, the danger of hell fire, if not their blood will be required of us as true believes who refuse to obey the commandment of 'Go and preach the gospel to every creature. Jesus said if we are ashamed of declaring him openly to the public. I will be ashamed of you in the presence of my Father and the Holy Angels. This word was repeatedly said in various occasions, showing the important of evangelish. Now you know the important of evangelism and how dangerous it’s to ignore the Lords commandment, we encourage you to join us to reach out to our lost neighbours for Christ when we do, we are saving our own souls. If you have not been evangelising, start today and the Lord will reward you, you can do at any time anywhere, Yes You Can.
Thanks for reading these words of encouragement and God bless you.
